At the invitation of Norwegian general consulate in Shanghai, Prof. Zhang Jikang attended the seminar on Norwegian technology and travel when the delegation led by vice mayor of Oslo, Norway, was visiting Shanghai.

CES performed well in the review of “China-EU Center for European Studies program”.

On Oct 21st and 22nd, seminar on " European Integration and Nordic Countries"  was held by CES and The Nordic Centre in Fudan University. Programme: European Integration and Nordic Countries

At the invitation of Norwegian general consulate in Shanghai, Prof. Zhang Jikang attended the seminar on Norwegian technology and travel when the delegation led by vice mayor of Oslo, Norway, was visiting Shanghai.

On September 30th, after ten-day urgent campaign and democratic discussion, CES finished it’s three-year development plan of English version and sent it to the administration of this project in Beijing.

At the invitation of the Italian consulate in Shanghai and Shanghai office of Italian foreign trade committee, Prof. Zhang Jikang, the director of CES, attended the formality held for their location transfer on the 25th of September.

On Sep 23th, Prof. Zhang Jikang took part in a small academic seminar on the relationship between China and Europe hosted by European Inst. of  Shanghai, and had academic communication with  the  director and  economic research manager of Center for European Policy Research, which is famous in Britain. 

Prof. John Williamson ,a famous economist and senior researcher of Institute of International Economy in Washington, USA, visited CES of Fudan University, and delivered a special speech on reform of China’s exchange rate system  in a meeting hosted by Prof. Zhang Jikang. After the meeting, Prof. Zhang Jikang and Liu Hongzhong, the director of finance department of Fudan University, had lunch with Prof. John Williamson and  Zhang Zhichao from The University of Durham in Britain who  accompanied.

On Sep 13th to 14th, Peking Program Office of China-Europe Center for European Studies organized EU experts to visit CES in Fudan University, discussing and examining program implementing plan in the coming three years which was established by CES before National day.

On Sep 10th to 13th, Prof. Dai Bingran and Zhang Jikang of CES attended the second meeting of Society for EU studies in Asian and Oceanian region and international symposium “Outside Looking In: EU and Enlargement”, which were held in Christchurch, New Zealand. Prof. Zhang Jikang delivered special speech titled “EU Enlargement and its influence on China economy” in the symposium. It was agreed in the meeting that the third meeting of Society for EU studies in Asian and Oceanian region would be held in Keio University, Tokyo in Japan in 2005, and the fourth meeting would be held in Fudan University, Shang  hai in China.

On the morning of Sep 10th, Professor Fabio Corno and Giovanni Ghelfi of Liuc University, Italy discussed the exchage students program with professor Zhou Genbao and associate professor Song Huiyi in CES. The program aims at promoting communication of culture and economy so as to understand each other better. Moreover, it can provide qualified talents for Italian companies which operate in China and Chinese companies operating in Italy. The exchange students program proposed by Professor Corno is composed of two parts: students of Fudan are invated to Italy for three-month study in economics and management, and Italian students come to Fudan for short-time study.

On the afternoon of Sep 3rd, Prof. Zhang Jikang, director of CES, delivered special speech titled “foreign markets in China: ready for new exchange rate system?” in National University of Singapore. Some staffs in banks and other financial institutions of Europe, US and Japan, as well as some specialists, scholars and professors attended the meeting.

On Sep 1st to 3rd, Prof. Dai Bingran and Zhang Jikang of CES visited European Studies Programme of National University of Singapore when they stayed in Singapore for changing plane.

On Aug 8th, Prof. Zhang Jikang, director of Center for European Studies, attended an international symposium about the relationship between China and Singapore. After the meeting, he had lunch with Wang Gengwu, China Ambassador to Singapore and director of Institute of East Asian studies, Singapore.

On the morning of May 19,2004, the second European Research Forum was held successfully by CES of Fudan University. On the invitation of the CES, Mr.Kripa Shankar,manager general of Sofitel Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong Shanghai delivered the speech titled by Multinational Approach to Business.

On May 17th, 2004, a special topic report for Fudan anniversary was held by CES in No.1 meeting room of Economic school. Professor Zhang Jikang, Chen Zhimin and Doctor Zhu Yiping delivered speeches separately titled by “the process of integration of EU’s financial markets”, “EU’s constitutionalization and estern enlargement” and “monetary polices of EU ‘s central bank”.

On May 10-11, 2004, the symposium on “inner motivation and outside circumstances of EU’s eastern enlargement” was convoked by CSEUS and party school of Jiangsu province committee in Nanjing. There were about 30 attendances from Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangxi   and Nanjing. Professor Wu Yikang, Director of CSEUS, Professor Dai Bingran, deputy director and secretary general of CSEUS, Associate Professor Hu Ronghua, deputy secretary general of CSEUS, Associate Professor Ding Chun, deputy director of CES attended the symposium and delivered speeches. The experts discussed on policy trends of EU’s relations with neighbor countries and big countries, inner harmonization of EU, Sino-EU relations, etc.

on april 26th, 2004, Professor Zhang Jikang, director of the Centre for European Studies took in Mr. Zhuang Weiyuan, director and general manager of  EXEL CHINA.The guest exchanged ideas towards MNC's business in CHINA and the development of logistics in CHINA. Furthermore, both sides expressed the expectation of futher communication and cooperation.Mr.Zhuang delivered the lecture titiled"the third part logistics--theory and practice" on the invitation of the Centre for European Studies.

 

Associate Professor Ding Chun attended the insurance and financial symposium titled ”new century, new risk, new challenges” jointly held by Fudan University and Feng Chia University of Taiwan. He submitted his paper and was awarded excellent paper and then attended the colloquia held by insurance departments and institutes of Feng Chia University.

On April 15th,2004, Professor Dai Bingran, honorary director of the Centre for European Studies, Professor Chen Zhimin, Associate Professor Ding Chun and Shen Xiaoxiao, deputy director general of foreign affairs department attended the lecture by Mr. Romano Prodi , President of the European Commission in China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai where he delivered a speech entitled "Economic and Trade Relations between the EU and China".

On April 7-8, 2004, professor Dai Bingran, honorary director of the Centre for European Studies and Professor Zhang Jikang, Director of the centre attended The 4th Meeting of the European Studies Centers in Asia: EU Enlargement and Institutional Reforms and Asia in Macau. The directors are from European Studies Centers in China and Japan, South Korea, Taiwan,China, Hong Kong SPR, Macau SPR, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Mongolia, New Zealand, Philippine, Portugal, Germany, etc. Professor Zhang Jikang gave a special speech titled “Financial market integration in Euro Area ”

Hu Ronghua, associate professor of the Centre for European Studies, was invited to give a report on the EU’s economic performance in 2003 and it’s trend,On the 6th academic salon of Economic school, Fudan University,  titled ”World Economy Situation”
