On
Oct 14th and 15th, a series of lectures in “Ambassador Forum”
were held in Center for American Studies again.
An Gaosheng,
EU ambassador to China, Hans Hakkerup, Danish pre-minister
of DOD, Ma Zhengang, Chinese pre-ambassador to Britain and
Karel J.G. van Oosterom, Netherlandish minister to China
delivered excellent speeches titled “actuality, challenge
and prospect of EU”,“NATO and the relationship between Europe
and USA ”,“British foreign policy” and “Enlargement of EU
and NATO: consequences for China”,respectively.

Alain
Higgins, the chief coordinator of Lille 1 (France) was invited
to Fudan University on June the 22nd, Associate Professor
Ding Chun and Deputy director of Foreign Affair Office,
Shen Xiaoxiao have introduced to him the management and
operational system of the international exchange of Fudan
University in detail, furthermore, they have discussed in-depth
the international academic cooperation between the Center
for European Studies and Lille 1.

On
May 8th, Doctor Muller Kohl, former German Primier attended
“Ambassador Forum” of Fudan University and delivered a
speech titled by “The Future of Europe In A Multi-pole
World” to hundreds of teachers and students. Mr. Wang
Shenghong, President
of Fudan University, Yan Shuang, deputy secretary of Fudan
University and Fu Chenghong, associate director of the
urban office for foreign affairs also met him.
During the speech, he unscrambled and prospected the
history and future of Europe. It is the 8th visit for
him to China. In 1974, he visited China for the first
time and then revisited China 4 times as the Premier of
German. He has attributed much to the relations between
China and Germany.
“Ambassador Forum ”of Fudan University held by CES was
started in April this year and invited ambassadors, higher
officers, councilor and famous scholars to deliver speeches
in this forum. Mr. Mei Zhaorong, China’s former ambassador
to Germany and former president of People’s Diplomatic
Society of China is the chairman of the academic committee
of CES.

China’s
relations with big countries: EU, USA and UN
——the 1st ambassador forum held by CES, Fudan University
Fudan University was held at 2:30 PM on April 17th, 2004.
It was chaireded by Mr. Mei Zhaorong, China’s former ambassador
to Germany and he was just retained as the special professor
and chairman for academic instructional committee of CES.
Mr. Li Daoyu, China’s former ambassador to U.S.A., Mr. Cai
Fangbo, China’s ambassador to France, Mr. Qin Huasun, former
representative to UN and Mr. Zhang Yijun, former ambassador
to Canada attended the forum and gave extractive speeches
separately.
Professor Yan Shuang, deputy secretary of Fudan University,
delivered salutatory. Professor Zhang Jikang, director of
CES expressed sincere thanks to ambassadors. On invitation
of the forum, Professor Wu Yikang, chairman of Chinese Society
for EU Studies, Professor Dai Bingran, secretary-general
of CSEUS, honorary director of CES and vice chairman for
academic instructional committee of CES, Professor Ni Shixiong
and Shen Dingli of the centre for American studies attended
the forum.
Ambassador Li Daoyu gave a speech on sino-us relations
and Mr. Cai Fangbo talked about France’s foreign policy.
Ambassador Qin Huasun gave a speech about the development
and reform of UN and Mr. Zhang Yijun brought forward China’s
peacefully growing up. After that, Ambassador Mei Zhaorong
gave an attractive speech on Sino-EU relations.
Finally, the five ambassadors answered questions asked by
scholarships and students

Ceremony for Ambassador Mei Zhaorong’s retained as special
professor of Fudan University and Chairman of academic instructional
committee of CES and “Fudan ambassador forum” report was
held at 3:00PM on April 13rd, 2004. Mr. Wang Shenhong, president
of Fudan University, Mr. Xue Mingyang, vice-president of
Fudan University and Mr. Yan Shuang, deputy-secretary of
Fudan, attended the ceremony.
Professor Wu Yikang, chairman of Chinese Society for EU
Studies, Professor Dai Bingran, secretary-general of CSEUS,
honorary director of CES and vice chairman for academic
instructional committee of CES, Professor Feng Shaolei of
ECNU, Professor Zhang Zuqian, Shanghai institute for international
issues and Professor Li Lezeng of the centre for Germany
studies of Tongji University also attended the ceremony.
